David’s education began in the San Diego school system where he learned advanced photography and darkroom skills. After his internship at Universal Studios, he purchased his first 35mm motion picture camera, an Eclair Cameflex CM3, on the advice of his mentor, Academy Award winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler.

While perfecting his cinematography skills, David supported himself as a Disc Jockey spinning records on the radio (at a time long before computerized playlists existed). Since that time, David has gone from being involved with an Emmy Award winning television newscast, to managing the operations of The Razorback sports radio network, to sound mixer and sound designer, winning numerous ADDY Awards for voice work and commercial production.
